This I admit is looking and feeling a bit sorry for itself these days and needs an overhaul - I mean the interface is a bit of a shocker and it has a few quirky bugs. But the fundamental underlying 3d matrix is still the same and I just wanted to make some sort of head. This piece of code goes way back now to a script I found in 1997/1998 and based various director projects on - namely my experimental radio tuner.
