This is the folio of independent freelance multimedia developer Steve Smith. With a couple of awards under my belt for some trick multimedia both in the UK and Australia (New Designers Winner 1998, MADC Silver 2004), there's plenty to look at here dating back to some antiques from '98. Nowadays I'm concentrating more on development and systems than design but still interested in graphic & broadcast related opportunities - especially if you want a flash based broadcast graphics system (my favourite sort of thing) or something unique & dynamic.

I have a blend of a high level of programming, design & interactive skills which have enabled me to work on some truly amazing projects, most of which you can see here.

360 Panoramic Video Flash Player	JAN 2008
This is a highly customised panoramic streaming video player for http://www.panoramicvideo.com.au based in Melbourne, Australia. I didn't even know such a thing existed until I saw some samples which blew me away with the potential for this exciting piece of technology. There were no decent cross-platform flash players on the market, and flash is once again the solution to this and why I was contacted by this client. The project is very unique and has some really exciting possibilities so either visit the link above or come back here and see how its going during 2008.

Flash site for Michael Klim's new mens skincare range. This site has been a long time coming but everyone is now really happy with it. The original graphics were supplied by hubgroup. This site also uses my seniorShop payment gateway and php shopping cart.

Actionscript 3 re-code of this stunning full-screen flash extravaganza for M&C Saatchi, Melbourne. I also remade most of the interactive elements in the chapters of this book. I would like to say that an enormous of amount of work had already been done on this amazing project with the visuals, all the animated elements, all the sound. I just rebuilt it as it had gotten a bit buggy and it was relaunched, after 2 weeks of solid coding, on 20 June 2008. Flash Microsite for 3 Mobile. Design and Programming. Check out the page turning hand thats my favourite part of what I made. I think the graphics on this are very much my style - that broadcasty full-colour kind of feel.

Singing Bee XML Generators	MAY 2008
After originally building the XML driven Flash application for Channel 9 to create the Singing Bee VFX, I was additionally asked to make a tool to generate the XML files, cos they're a bit fiddly with all the timecodes and whatnot. This was a perfect opportunity to get cranking with Adobe AIR and I was pretty impressed with the power of it.

Just moved into some new, larger office space as my operations seem to be growing! Working on a cool flash site for thatworks.com.au, into which I am integrating the APE physics engine which would appear to be discontinued but is still very handy.

Recently pumped out a huge flash / dynamic PHP cms system for Pennzoil which will be a race around Australia. Should be launching October 08 sometime!!

Also just finished rebranding the 360video site which currently is living at hd.360video.com.au.

I am looking rather booked for the rest of the year and have my eye out for a junior flash assistant developer with AS3 skills.
